Book List 2009!

Recently I choose to make a bit of a book list, or a book goal for 2009. I decided that I would get at least 20 books read by the end of the year. Now, rather than starting this goal back in January, when it would have made more of of difference, I did not think about this plan until June. I have included the two books I read in school in my second semester as well as all the books I am reading in order to choose what to give to my mum (because I won't just let her read any books--only the best!). So then, below I include my book list, the books that have dates would be the ones I started reading after I made the goal to read!

-A Passage to India

-Nervous Conditions

-Uglies

-Pretties

-My Sisters Keeper

-The City of Ember (Sunday, June 14th)

-Secrets from the Vinyl Café (Wednesday, June 17, 2009)

-City of Bones (Thursday, June 25th, 2009)

-City of Ashes (Monday, July 06, 2009)

-Specials (Saturday, July 11th, 2009)

And so I have 10/20 books done so far. I have a bunch I am really looking forward to reading and one that I just haven't picked up yet. So, I think I will probably make it. Especially with the way the amount has increased since January.

P.S. if anyone has any suggestions for reading material, I would be grateful. Any books that are like those on the list (mainly City of Bones, Uglies and City of Ember) would be great--my mum is not much of a reader so I am finding teenaged stuff for her. She also loves Harry Potter and Twilight.

Unknown Movie

Sailor Moon WTF?!
Having found a wonderful looking movie, I watched the trailer daily. Now suddenly, that movie is gone. Where did it go? Search on Google-it's gone. Or do I have the name wrong?

I am currently looking for a movie I believed to be titled 'Perfect Machine.' I believe it was a Japanese CG animated movie, that was done for a film festival (though the festival part could be off). It was about a woman who, when she looses her most precious thing, gives up on life and signs up for an operation that uses her soul as part of a test to see if they can be kept alive in a machine. She thus becomes a robot or cyborg.

It looked like a beautiful movie and had some wonderful music in it-but it seems to have dropped off the face of the planet. If you know anything or if this sounds like a movie you know, please reply to this post. I only saw the trailer so I cannot give much more of the plot line out but...it has really been bugging me. The last time I would have seen the trailer was in 2006. The movie would have been released a year or two before that.

Thank you for your time!

Raising money

I am raising money for the Big Brothers Big Sisters of my community and was wondering what methods would be best?

I am selling a small piece of art tomorrow for 5 dollars (which brings my total to 10 dollars).

Next week I was also hoping to back cookies and go around to the offices in my University and sell the cookies for a dollar each. With the mix and the eggs it will probably cost me about $2.50 for 20-25 cookies.

I was also thinking about making muffins or cupcakes.

What do you think?

Teaching English Overseas

Recognize!!!
I have, as of late, been thinking of teaching English overseas.

I will be attending a presentation for this event on Wednesday and hopefully it will clear up some small concerns
I have about the matter.

I am very concerned about going over seas.

This is January. A very cold and chilly January at that. Today, the weather hit a low of -37C and it is suppose to get worse.

However, next week is suppose to be bright, sunny and....warm? Well, even -30 is still warm-er!

For Christmas eve, Christmas day, Boxing day and the following day, I spent about 22 hours in the car to visit around with my boyfriend's family.

That was fun.

Best wishes for the new year with everyone! Be safe!

Happy Holidays everyone! I hope you all can have a nice holiday season-what ever you celebrate or wherever you go this year. I will be at my boyfriends this year and hopefully it won't go over too bad. I'm a little anxious and excited as I have never been there for Christmas before.

Best wish to all!
